Wedding Ceremony or Renewal of Vows

by Interfaith Minister Valery Coburn

Interfaith Minister Valery Coburn is an expert in the art of creating spiritual ceremony. Your ceremony can be held at a venue or location of your choice and is usually conducted after the civil ceremony has taken place.

Formal 1 2009.JPGIt is as yet not possible in England to perform a legal marriage ceremony and this has to take place at the registrars’ office or other location you may have chosen. This legal ceremony can be undertaken at any time not necessarily on the day of the main event and can be kept to a short service with even rings not needing to be exchanged, but that part of the ceremony being kept to your special spiritual event. The spiritual ceremony is kept completely separate of any civil ceremony for obvious reasons.

After our initial getting to know you session and we have decided to go ahead together, we will be looking to identify the unique vision of your wedding day. I will clearly clarify to you my role in it and where I am available for ongoing support. If there is a need for spiritual counselling at any time this would be a separate arrangement between individuals or the couple as required and is not included in the fee. We will outline details such as creating your vows, looking at the inclusion of any readings, the music or choral offerings etc., and I will leave you with a personal information pack. Know that from the moment we agree our commitment I am always available for discussion at the end of a phone or email.Beach 1 2009.JPG

The second session will be looking more at the structure of the day, I will have visited your location by now if needs be. We will look again at creating your vows and seeing where my help may be needed to make them ‘right’ for you. This is a very important moment in the ceremony, and in the pack there are a few questions that I hope by now you will have reviewed individually and that we can now discuss together. The intent of this is that we can listen deeper to your partners reply and identify on a deeper level the marriage vision. These questions enable a clearer understanding in the relationship and meaning overall of this the first day of the rest of your life together.

Our third meeting will include the location if that is necessary, we will work through the first draft together make any last minute additions or alterations. We will discuss the need for rehearsal, not everyone wants this, but I have found mostly that it really helps orientate everyone and give confidence that all will flow smoothly on the day. I then create the final copy for your approval and will furnish you with that copy for the bride and groom. You can then arrange any orders of service.

Your Wedding Ceremony will be an authentic reflection of who you both are as individuals and as a couple, and where you are heading in your future life together. It is my greatest joy and privilege to hold this heart felt ceremony with you and for you.

Testimonials

We chose Valery after searching for someone who could offer a ceremony that reflected our beliefs, ideals and most importantly, what we wanted to celebrate and recognise on our wedding day with family and friends.
Valery was able to offer us a stress-free and consultative approach to organising our ceremony, taking time to really understand who we are and what was important to us for our future together.
Although challenged by miles between us, Valery was always available for any questions we had and gave us the confidence that our ceremony would run smoothly.
The ceremony was personal, reflective of our personalities and values and most importantly included our families and friends which was heartfelt. Indeed, we had many comments from guests at how personal our ceremony was including humor and our choice of music and readings.
We still reflect over our ceremony and the vows we made together, which was so meaningful and individualistic. Valery has helped to give us a memory of our wedding day that will last a lifetime.

Thank you Valery.Steve & Wendy Plummer, Melbourne, Australia

Thank you so much for such a truly wonderful blessing yesterday.

All our friends said how beautiful it was, and how brilliant you were. They said you drew them in towards you. Lots of them had been sceptical of our idea, but have been very pleasantly surprised at how nicely the blessing was done. I heard so many praises of the 'priest/ multifaith minister/lady who did your blessing" it was staggering!

I don't think there was a dry eye in the house! My matron of honour's husband (usually quite sensible and not emotional) had to take a walk after the ceremony to get some free thinking time to absorb what was said at the blessing, and to ponder it all!! :-)

All agreed it was the best wedding they'd ever been to (even my posh friend who arrived at her wedding in a helicopter, had singing waiters, and fireworks!).

Will and I are still overwhelmed by all the love we were surrounded by yesterday. Everyone really did participate in the spirit of the day.

Thanks so much.
