Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) |
Posttraumatic stress disorder is something we are hearing more and more about especially with our servicemen and women returning from duties in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In the United States a randomised controlled trial on the effect of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is being conducted on the psychological states of US military service personnel coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
This trial is being carried out by Dawson Church, PhD, of the Soul Medicine Institute. Dawson Church is the author of the book Genie in Your Genies, an excellent resource that shows the newest scientific research on genes and how our bodies express them.
I volunteered myself forward as a practitioner here in the UK for this trial as I have a military background and have served in many campaigns in the past. It has long since been a wish of mine to help military personnel here, and although I was initially accepted for the trial it later emerged that as I am not an American citizen and do not reside in the USA it would not be possible as this is primarily a trial for the USA only. However, Dawson Church has encouraged me to do what I can here in the UK and forward my research and findings to him at the institute.
Free help for UK service veterans with PTSD:
I am willing to help our PTSD service veterans without charge and to begin the UK trials much in the same way as they are being conducted on the other side of the Atlantic. There have been many stunning successes with this relatively gentle method, and I want our servicemen and women to benefit also. It is because of my passion with these amazing results that have already become evident, that I extend this offer now.
What are our goals and objectives?
Our goal is to share EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques see www.emofree.com) with veterans and their families. This self-healing modality has an outstanding success rate for recovery from PTSD, physical pain, depression, anxiety and insomnia. We desire to hearten, heal and uplift our veterans who have served our country so well, and honour and respect their much earned courage, strength and commitment to serve and protect.
We are addressing the need of veterans and their families to recover from PTSD, depression, insomnia and pain on every level. We are offering to work in conjunction with health-care professionals and the veterans to substantially decrease possible suicide rates and give these courageous young people back their lives again. (Currently the suicide rate for veterans in the US is about 18-20 suicides per day.)
This is my background
Having served for 34 years in the Fleet Air Arm and taken part in many conflicts including the Falklands, Beirut, 1992 Gulf War and Bosnia campaigns, I want to offer my skills to serving and ex service men and women once again, but this time in a rather different capacity.
Since leaving the Fleet Air Arm in 2000, I trained as an EFT Practitioner and Teacher and as a Practitioner of Shiatsu and Oriental and Vibrational medicines. My background in the services is the reason why I want to be able to use my skills and knowledge to bring some definable relief to this highly debilitating problem regarding Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Running alongside the American trial has given me the opportunity to offer to treat service men and women using this incredible technique of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).
How does it work?
Based on the ancient principles of acupuncture, EFT is a simple tapping procedure that gently realigns the body’s energy system, without the discomfort of needles. The process is easy to memorise and is a self-help technique that can be used in any situation, at any time. With unmistakable clinical results EFT could help bring about significant changes for our forces, providing techniques for self-healing in the field and after leaving the service.
PTSD responds extraordinarily well to EFT; in most cases the intense feelings from those flashbacks and intrusive memories either vanish or are considerably reduced within a few minutes of applying EFT. You can view the evidence of this with Gary Craig on his video of treating Vietnam War veterans.

Repeated applications of EFT often eliminate those feelings permanently so that they no longer appear on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. For those who don’t achieve instant relief, EFT is still likely to improve or at the very least give relief to the problem; however in these cases more sophisticated approaches are usually necessary. EFT is ideally designed to address these emotional issues and once properly applied can subside permanently.
Very few traumatic events can compete with the horrors of war; the aftermath, for those who survive, can include constant battlegrounds within the soldiers psyche, flashbacks, deep anxiety and nightmares and so on. EFT is often very effective in treating war trauma and in my opinion; every service man and women in the world should be given mandatory sessions. ‘The effect on our veterans would be beyond remarkable’.
How can you help?
The benefits that using these simple techniques can bring to our service men and women are both life changing and lifesaving. I ask you to support my campaign by forwarding this information to as many people as possible with the aim of reaching those who have served us so well. You too could help make a difference.
